If you're looking for a new show to watch this week, the vast landscape of streaming networks will provide plenty of them, including my personal favorite of the week: Chimp Crazy. This original documentary series is just mayhem from start to finish, in the best possible way. Chimp Crazy is to 2024 as Tiger King was to 2020.
Chimp Crazy
Chimp Crazy is an HBO original documentary that tells the story of nurse-turned-exotic-animal-broker Tonia Haddix, who battles law enforcement, animal rights activists, and common sense on behalf of a great ape that could rip her face off at any time because it's a wild animal, not a baby. There are also interviews and profiles of other chimp moms, and a look into the culture of people who keep primate pets.

Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War
The beef between Wyatt Earp and Ike Clanton and his Cowboys was so vicious they're still making art about it 143 years later. Wyatt Earp and the Cowboy War is a six-episode series that uses reenactments to take viewers back to the Old West town of Tombstone to examine the forces that led Earp, his brothers, and other lawmen to do battle with a vicious gang of cattle rustlers—a feud that defined the nation.

The Anonymous
This competition reality show tests players' ability to deceive by awarding $100,000 to the contestant who is most successful at hiding their identity. If you like cutthroat reality TV where only the most cunning and strategic players survive, check out The Anonymous; it's good, mindless, late-August TV.

The New York Times Presents: Lie to Fly
If you're afraid of flying, you may want to skip the latest episode of The New York Times' monthly documentary series. Lie to Fly tells the story of commercial airline pilot Joseph Emerson, who was accused of deliberately trying to crash an Alaska Airlines flight while high on psychedelic mushrooms. More than just an examination of one of the most white-knuckle flights in history, Lie to Fly digs into how the FAA's rules around mental health may have led to Emerson seeking an alternative treatment for a mental disorder.

Emily Cooper's search for European romance continues for another season of stylish outfits and beautiful scenery. Season four sees Emily traveling from Paris to the majestic French Alps and on to the picturesque piazzas of Rome. That means Emily will have to learn another new language if she hopes to speak to potential Italian suitors. This confection of a series promises just the kind of light entertainment we all need during the dog days of August.

Worst Ex Ever
This Netflix true crime series was created by the people who brought us Worst Roommate Ever. Like that show, it combines interviews with victims and their loved ones and animated reenactments of terrible domestic situations. If you like "that shit is crazy" style documentary TV, check in with the Worst Ex Ever, but be ready to file a restraining order if things go south.

Industry, Season 3
Working in an office sure is exciting on television! Season 3 of Industry continues the story of the back-biting, scheming, and vicious politics behind the scenes at London investment banking firm Pierpoint & Co., where people I would definitely not want to hang out with in real life fight to get ahead in the corporate finance world. According to the HBO, this season, Pierpoint "looks to the future and takes a big bet on ethical investing," while "Yasmin, Robert, and Eric find themselves front and center in the splashy IPO of Lumi, a green tech energy company led by Sir Henry Muck."

Rick and Morty: The Anime
If you can't get enough Rick and Morty, Max is presenting a spin-off series that puts the titular characters in an anime setting. Directed by Takashi Sano, Rick and Morty: The Anime is a 10-episode series showing Rick "relaxing in a pseudo-world between multiverses," Summer helping Space Beth battle the Galactic Federation, and Morty falling in love with an atemporal being.

Are You Sure?!
This Disney+ travelogue series follows Jimin and Jung Kook, two members of K-Pop band BTS, on a tender journey of self-discovery and friendship. It's just two handsome-but-non-threatening pop-stars in their 20s, traipsing all over the world—skiing, camping, sharing stories, laughing, and growing together. In other words, I am not the target market for this show, but if you're into BTS, Are you Sure?! might change your life.
